Vice President Kashim Shettima has said the economic reforms of the Bola Tinubu administration are helping indigenous Nigerian companies expand their operations and emerge as global brands.

Shettima stated this on Monday in Abuja when he received a delegation from fintech company Flutterwave, led by its Co-founder and Chief Executive Officer, Olugbenga Agboola. He cited Flutterwave, Moniepoint and Andela as examples of Nigerian companies leveraging the reforms to scale their businesses.

The Vice President assured Flutterwave of continued government support, saying the administration was committed to strengthening indigenous businesses. He commended the company for developing an African solution to digital payment challenges and building a major technology success story from Nigeria.

Agboola said Flutterwave was targeting significant growth in the coming years to strengthen its position in Africa and globally. He thanked the Federal Government for its support and expressed the company’s willingness to contribute to the administration’s economic agenda.

Shettima also said the Tinubu administration remained committed to improving transport infrastructure to reduce the cost of moving people and goods across the country. He spoke while inaugurating the National Working Committee of the National Structure of Transporters for Tinubu/Shettima 2027 in Abuja.

Represented by his Deputy Chief of Staff, Ibrahim Hadejia, the Vice President described transport workers as critical to national productivity, noting their role in connecting farmers to markets, manufacturers to consumers and businesses to production centres. He said investments in highways, railways, ports, clean mobility and logistics infrastructure were aimed at easing their operations.

Shettima urged the transporters supporting the President’s re-election bid to conduct their political activities peacefully and on the basis of issues. He warned them against violence, threats, intimidation, misinformation and electoral misconduct, stressing that political participation must strengthen rather than undermine democracy.

The National Coordinator of the group, Segun Obayendo, attributed the transport sector’s support for Tinubu to the administration’s reforms and investments, while the APC Deputy National Organising Secretary, Emeka Okafor, urged members to use their nationwide networks to mobilise support for Tinubu and other party candidates ahead of the 2027 elections.
