President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Saturday flagged off his 2027 presidential campaign in Kaduna, accusing opposition leaders of creating the hunger and poverty they now criticise his administration over.

Speaking at a rally at Ranchers Bees Stadium, Tinubu said his government was working to eradicate poverty and urged Kaduna residents to renew his mandate, citing investments in critical infrastructure across the state and the Northern region.

At the event, the President also virtually commissioned an 81-kilometre section of the Abuja-Kaduna-Zaria-Kano Dual Carriageway, with the Minister of Works, Dave Umahi, highlighting ongoing infrastructure projects in the North-West and other parts of the country.

Vice President Kashim Shettima called for continued support for Tinubu, citing his commitment to national unity, democratic stability and economic development. Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani commended the President’s support for state development programmes and urged party supporters to guard against misinformation, particularly AI-generated content circulating on social media.

The Director-General of the APC Presidential Campaign Council, Abdulaziz Yari, expressed confidence in the party’s prospects in 2027 and defended the administration’s economic reforms, urging Nigerians to assess the government based on its policies and performance.

The rally was attended by APC National Chairman Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, 32 APC governors, First Lady Oluremi Tinubu, the wife of the Vice President, and other party leaders and stakeholders.
