The Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) on Wednesday staged a nationwide protest over proposed amendments to the minimum wage for Nigerian workers.

This protest, according to labour,  is holding following attempts by some lawmakers at the National Assembly to remove the Minimum Wage from the Exclusive Legislative List to the Concurrent Legislative List.

The National President of Nigerian Labour Congress, Ayuba Wabba while addressing the workers at the Unity Fountain in Abuja stated that the right of Nigerian workers to enjoy the minimum wage is in line with the position of the International Labour Organisation.

President Muhammadu Buhari signed the National Minimum Wage Bill into law in April 2019, approving the 30,000 naira national minimum wage after talks between the government and the labor unions following an industrial action across the country in 2018.
