President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has commended Nigerian youths and support groups for promoting his administration’s economic reforms and the Renewed Hope agenda, urging them to sustain grassroots mobilisation and peaceful political participation ahead of future elections.

Speaking at a meeting with members of the City Boy Movement at the State House on Monday, October 19, 2026, Tinubu acknowledged their support during major reforms, including fuel subsidy removal, currency reforms and tax restructuring. He highlighted youth-focused initiatives such as the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), Credit Corporation of Nigeria (CREDICORP) and Three Million Technical Talent (3MTT) programme as efforts to expand access to education, credit and digital skills.

The President praised the City Boy Movement and Relax, Tinubu Is Fixing Nigeria for mobilising supporters and communicating government policies. He also commended his son, Seyi Tinubu, patron of the City Boy Movement, for helping establish the group, while encouraging young Nigerians to contribute to governance and national development through lawful and non-violent engagement.

Vice President Kashim Shettima defended the administration’s economic reforms, arguing that addressing longstanding structural challenges had helped avert a deeper crisis. Speaker of the House of Representatives Tajudeen Abbas and Deputy Senate President Jibrin Barau also praised the movement’s grassroots organisation and technology-driven mobilisation strategy.

The movement’s Director-General, Francis Oluwatosin Shoga, disclosed that it had registered 4.8 million members, while Ahmed Bala, Director-General of Relax, Tinubu Is Fixing Nigeria, pledged that his group would mobilise 10 million votes for Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027.

Tinubu urged the groups to prioritise constructive dialogue, voter registration and the use of Permanent Voter Cards, stressing that political engagement must remain peaceful and that national stability and democratic processes must be protected.
