President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved an 18-month tenure extension for Sylvester Ndidi Nwakuche, Controller-General of the Nigerian Correctional Service, and Kemi Nanna Nandap, Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Immigration Service.

Under the approval, Nwakuche will remain in office until May 26, 2028, while Nandap’s tenure will end on June 30, 2028. The extension, recommended by Interior Minister Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, is intended to address succession gaps and give the respective boards sufficient time to appoint successors.

Tinubu commended both officials for the reforms achieved under their leadership and charged them to consolidate the gains. Nwakuche was nominated in December 2024 and confirmed by the Senate in March 2025, while Nandap was nominated on February 21, 2024, and confirmed on March 1, 2024.
