In a bid to check incessant armed robbery attacks on the Benin—Ore Expressway, the Nigeria Police has beefed up security on the road. Edo State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Haliru Gwandu disclosed this while speaking to newsmen in Benin-City over the weekend.
Gwandu said the Nigeria Police has deployed an Armoured Personnel Carrier (APC) to patrol the road which had become a nightmare to travelers.
“Because we are now patrolling the area with APC, that is why if you look in the past two months, there has been no robbery attack on that road,” he said.
He added: “We have seen enough peace here in the last two months. In the past, we received incessant reports of attacks on the Benin-Ore Expressway, but today, that is no longer the case because of the measures we have put in place.”
He thanked the public for volunteering useful and good information that has helped the police in apprehending numerous culprits and recovering arms and ammunitions from armed robbery suspects.
