Italy has defeated Spain by 2 goals to 0 to progress to the quarterfinals of the EURO 2016 Championship.
The Italians dominated the first half when an uncaught free-kick shot led to a chip into the net by Giorgio Chiellini. They had more opportunities but couldn’t double the lead.
The Spaniards had a great performance in the second half and Pique’s miss would not be forgotten in a very long time. Unfortunately for Spain, it was either they couldn’t break Italy’s defence or beat Buffon’s ‘gifted hands’.

It was still a struggle until the 90th minute when Graziano Pelle smashed a close cross from Marteo Darmain into the net to settle the matter finally for Italy.
Italy will now meet the Germans in the quarterfinal.
