Coach of the Algerian national squad, Georges Leekens is planning a major counter-attack against the Nigerian Super Eagles for the FIFA 2018 World-Cup qualifier match in Uyo. The 67 year old newly appointed manager of the Greens is hoping to ruin the Eagles with a 4-2-3-1 formation.
By this formation, he hopes to use a powerful defence to counter any attacks from Nigeria’s leading forwards—Kelechi Iheanacho and Alex Iwobi—seeing their impressive performance against Zambia. Resolved not to take any chances in this crucial match, Leekens has blamed his defence for Algeria’s 1-1 draw at home with Cameroon.
Speaking about the Eagles’ strike force, the coach said: “The pressure does not scare me at all and I am motivated to succeed with the Greens. I can also say that I have a debt to the Algerian team.”
