The Rivers State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Francis Mobolaji Odesanya has died aged 56. He died at the Sterling Hospital, Ahmedabad–Gujarat in India after a prolonged battle with kidney disease.
A statement by the Force Public Relations Officer of the Nigeria Police, which announced the death said condolence registers have been opened at the Force Headquarters in Abuja and the Rivers State Police Command Headquarters, Port Harcourt for the personnel of the force and members of the public.
The statement read: “The Inspector General of Police and his Management Team, on behalf of the entire officers and men of the Nigerian Police Force, wish to commiserate with the Odesanya family of Ikenna, Ogun State and the good people and government of Ogun State, on the passage onto glory, of their illustrious son, CP Francis Mobolaji Odesanya. May his gentle soul rest in perfect peace and the Good Lord grant his family and the government and the good people of Ogun State, the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss.”
Odesanya was the 37th Commissioner of Police of Rivers State and he took over from Mr. Foluso Adebanjo in July 2016, when the latter was promoted to the rank of Deputy Inspector General of Police in charge of Information and Communication Technology at the Force Headquarters, Abuja.
The late CP is said to have performed his duties at the Rivers State Police Command until December last year when he became very sick and had to be flown abroad.
