Marvin Jorres, a German punter has missed out on winning £29,000 (about €35,000) because of Leroy Sane’s late goal for Manchester City against Monaco on Tuesday.
Jorres had placed a bet that Atletico Madrid would beat Bayer Leverkusen 4-2, which they did, and that Manchester City would beat Monaco 4-3 with just £1.70.
“I was 100 percent sure that I would win. I thought it was my day. I watched both matches simultaneously,” he told Sky Sports in Germany.
“And when Man City scored the goal I lied down on the floor and didn’t move for five minutes,” he added.
Leroy Sane has however expressed sympathy for Jorres through his twitter handle @LeroySane19. “I read about it in the newspapers …. Sorry for that poor guy,” the tweet read.
