Former Super Eagles captain and Leicester City striker, Ahmed Musa was on Tuesday arrested for allegedly assaulting his wife, Jamila.
A media report said the speedy forward was arrested, interrogated and released hours after Leicester City’s 2-0 win over Sunderland at the King Power Stadium– a match in which he did not feature.
A spokesperson for Leicestershire Police said: “A 24-year-old man was arrested yesterday morning at his home near Leicester on suspicion of common assault.”
Leicester City management, while confirming knowledge of the arrest and interrogation, said they would not be initiating any action against the player after the case.
“We are aware that Ahmed Musa has today co-operated with a police enquiry relating to a disturbance in the early hours of this morning,” a Leicester City spokesman said.
“We see no reason for any formal action internally, though Ahmed will be given the opportunity to discuss the matter with football management when the squad returns,” he added.
