The faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) led by the ousted chairman of the party, Senator Ali Modu Sheriff has said that they received the Supreme Court’s judgement that reinstated Ahmed Makarfi as the party’s National Chairman with shock.

In a three-paragraph statement released by the former spokesperson for Sheriff’s faction, Mr. Bernard Mikko and Sheriff’s erstwhile deputy, Dr. Cairo Ojuogboh in Abuja on Thursday, the faction said they were still waiting for their lawyers to intimate them with the details of the ruling. They also asked all members of the party to remain steadfast in praying for the country.

“We received with shock the 12th July judgement of the Supreme Court on the leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party though we still await the full written judgment of the highest court from our lawyers who will fully brief us on the details of the judgment. In the interim, we seek all members and supporters to remain steadfast in prayers for Nigeria.”

The statement further added that they remain resolute in their struggle to make sure that the party is given back to its owners at the grass roots and in ensuring that internal democracy is institutionalized in the party.

It would be recalled that Ali Modu Sheriff was sacked as the National Chairman of the PDP on Wednesday by a five-man panel of Justices, ending the over 18-month leadership tussle in the party.
