The Zambian Police has revealed plans to clamp down on persons who are in possession of sex toys and other materials which are obscene and to ban the importation and sale of such in the country.

Spokesperson for the Zambia Police, Esther Katougo who stated this while fielding questions from journalists said it was illegal and an offense to possess obscene materials like sex dolls in the country.

She said: “Possession of obscene materials in this country is an offence. Read section 177 of the Penal Code on Importation. Check 177 (1) (b) and section 177 (1) (c) which criminalizes taking part in such business.”

The Zambian Police is currently tracking down two women alleged to be lesbians after they released  pictures on the internet to reveal their intimate relationship. The pictures have since gone viral.

The issue of sex dolls being used for sexual gratification is  raising controversy in the conservative Southern African country and has divided many Zambians in their views.

While some claim the law did make any provision prohibiting the importation of sex dolls, others have lauded the position of the police as they view such items as taboo.
