The Emir of Kano, Muhammad Sanusi II on Sunday paid ₦5 million for the settlement of fines imposed on some inmates of Kurmawa and Goron Prisons in the state so they could be freed to join in the Eid-el-Fitri celebrations.
Speaking during his visit to the prisons, Sanusi called on the inmates to see their stay incarceration as the will of God and use the fasting period to reflect on their conduct.
The monarch advised them to make good use of the remaining period of Ramadan to be of good behaviour and seek Allah’s forgiveness and intervention.
Responding, the Acting Comptroller of Kano Prisons, Aliyu Yahuza described Sanusi’s visit as a demonstration of his concern for his subjects, adding that the prison was committed to the training and retraining of inmates in various vocations.
