Mary Aderinola Ojulari is an accountant and financial manager who has distinguished herself professionally. She has recorded remarkable achievements in her field.

Mary is the Deputy Managing Director/Chief Finance Officer at Weststar Associates Nigeria (Mercedes-Benz Nigeria). Weststar is the sole Authorised General Distributor for Mercedes-Benz in the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Weststar coordinates the entire Daimler AG‘s business activities in Nigeria including Sales, Dealer Support, Network Development, Fleet Management Support, After-Sales Services, Warranties, Marketing, Corporate affairs, Technical and Non-Technical Trainings, and the Assembly Plant for Mercedes-Benz Commercial Vehicles.

With over 20 years of work experience spread across various industries and successful projects. She is a result orientated and a strategically focused CFO with an impressive track record of successfully delivering financial, general management and change projects. Mary has worked in a range of management and director level roles in hospitality, media, services and automobile sectors. 

She started her professional career in 2001 with KPMG UK. She thereafter moved to Bass Group Plc UK and in 2004 she joined Whitbread Plc UK. In 2006, she moved to the British Broadcasting Company (BBC) where she was responsible to Director of Finance & Director (Audio & Music) in the development and implementation of the value for money and continuous improvement change programmes delivering over £80m cumulative savings through the introduction of digital technologies and multi skilled working.

Mary was part of the leadership team that led the introduction of new finance processes and structure within the Group (the first in the BBC) to help deliver cost savings of 47% over 3 years. In 2009, she moved to Pan BBC Corporate Planning & Analysis division where her key responsibilities where to ensure that the BBC’s long term plan to 2016/17 was viable, making efficient and effective use of the BBC’s financial resources of £3.5bn pa, set cash and net profit targets for all 30 divisions, manage and mitigate risks across the BBC and assisted in reviewing and authorising all investment cases.

She was in the BBC until 2012 when she relocated back to Nigeria where she worked with CNBC & Forbes Africa as the Chief Financial Officer for West Africa for 5 years before joining Weststar in 2017, where she currently works.

As Deputy Managing Director/Chief Finance Officer at Weststar, Mary supports the Group Managing Director in providing leadership for strategic direction, revenue and profit for Commercial and Passengers Vehicles for Mercedes-Benz Nigeria. Special focus on cash flow optimization for capital intensive projects for expansion and the Mercedes-Benz truck Assembly Plant.

Mary holds a degree in Accounting and Finance from London South Bank University and became a member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (“ACCA”), London in 2003. She became a Fellow of ACCA in 2008 and has earned several Human Resources certificates from the Lagos Business School.

It is in recognition of her contribution to national development in the field of Accounting and Financial Management that Mary Aderinola Ojulari was deemed worthy to be conferred with the Woman of Merit Gold Award which is part of the PSR National Awards.
