Palpable tension has enveloped Enugu metropolis and environs following the killing of three policemen by unknown gunmen at a police check point in Enugu.

The ugly incident occurred Thursday along timber junction, Maryland axis in Enugu South Local Council area of the State.

It was gatheredy that the criminal elements also abducted a woman and her driver at the same location .

Eye witness account disclosed also that a commercial tricycle operator sustained bullet wounds as the hoodlums were shooting sporadically into the air to scare people and commuters away.

The Enugu state Police Public Relations Officer PPRO, ASP Dan Ndukwe who confirmed the incident said although, the information was still sketchy, that the Command has launched a serious manhunt for the hoodlums.

According to him, “Information surrounding the incident is still sketchy. Meanwhile, manhunt of the hoodlums have been initiated.”
