The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC has shifted the states’ governorship and houses of assembly elections earlier scheduled for Saturday, March 11 to Saturday, March 18, 2023.
The shift according to INEC, is to enable it reconfigure its Bimordal Voter Acccreditation System, BIVAS which it deployed for the December 25 presidential and National Assembly elections.
The electoral commission says it would need a minimum of five days to effect the configuration. Following an application it filed at the Court of Appeal seeking its leave to reconfigure its BIVAS machines, the court granted INEC the go-ahead to do so yesterday, Wednesday, March 8.
