Nigeria’s Super Eagles will face their eternal rivals, the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon in the second round of the Africa Cup of Nations.
The Round of 16 matchup between Nigeria and Cameroon at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations was finalized on Tuesday evening. Defending champions Senegal secured the top spot in Group C with a 2-0 victory over Guinea. Meanwhile, Cameroon clinched second place in the group after defeating Gambia 3-2. Both teams finished with four points, but Cameroon advanced due to a superior goal difference.
Nigeria secured their place in the knockout stage by finishing second in Group A behind Equatorial Guinea. The Super Eagles sealed runner-up position with a 1-0 win against Guinea-Bissau.
The regional rivals will now face off in the round of 16 on Saturday, January 27 at 9 pm WAT. The winner of the Nigeria versus Cameroon clash will advance to the quarterfinals of the tournament.
