Dangote Petroleum Refinery has temporarily suspended the sale of petroleum products in Naira, citing the need to align its sales with its crude oil procurement, which is denominated in U.S. dollars.
In a statement issued on March 19, 2025, the refinery explained that its Naira sales had exceeded the value of Naira-denominated crude received, prompting the adjustment. However, it assured customers that fuel sales in the local currency would resume once it secures Naira-priced crude from the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Ltd.
The company also dismissed rumors that it had halted operations due to ticketing fraud, calling such reports “malicious falsehoods.” It reaffirmed the integrity of its operational systems and its commitment to serving the Nigerian market efficiently.
