In a distressing turn of events, at least 87 individuals have reportedly been kidnapped by bandits who launched an assault on the Kajuru station community in Kajuru Local Government Area of Kaduna State. The attack, occurring on Sunday night, marked yet another grim chapter in the region’s ongoing security crisis.

The bandits, notorious for their ruthless tactics, not only abducted scores of residents but also ransacked shops and houses within the community, exacerbating the sense of fear and insecurity among the populace.

This incident comes hot on the heels of a similar abduction, where 14 people were kidnapped by bandits in Dogon Noma community, also located within Kajuru Local Government. Despite the escalating frequency of such attacks, police authorities in Kaduna State are yet to officially confirm this latest assault.

Chairman of Kajuru Local Government Area, Ibrahim Gajere, expressed dismay over the relentless onslaughts plaguing the area, emphasizing the profound impact on the psychological well-being of residents.

Kajuru and neighboring Chikun Local Government Areas have recently borne the brunt of intensified attacks, including the high-profile abduction of 287 students from Kuriga community in Chikun.

Responding to the surge in kidnappings, Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, made a crucial visit to the state government house to confer with Governor Uba Sani. Assuring swift action, General Musa pledged the military’s commitment to rescuing the abducted students and those recently taken from Kajuru.

“We are working tirelessly to make sure that all those kidnapped will be safeguarded and brought out as quickly as possible,” General Musa stated, vowing to apprehend all perpetrators behind the kidnappings and attacks in Kaduna and neighboring states within the North West zone.

Governor Sani echoed this sentiment, emphasizing the collaborative efforts between the state government and security agencies to bolster security measures, particularly in vulnerable communities like Kuriga.

“We will ensure that we beef up security in Kuriga community. We are getting a lot of support from security agencies, from both police and army,” Governor Sani affirmed during the meeting, underscoring the collective resolve to confront the scourge of insecurity gripping the region.
