Following the impeachment of Philip Shaibu as the Deputy Governor of Edo State, Governor Godwin Obaseki has swiftly appointed Omobayo Godwins, aged 37, as his new deputy. The announcement of Omobayo’s appointment came just hours after Shaibu’s removal from office.
Omobayo’s inauguration is scheduled to take place on Monday at the Edo State Government House in Benin City.
The anticipation surrounding Omobayo’s swearing-in ceremony has attracted friends and well-wishers to the inauguration venue, reflecting the significance of the occasion.
Born on July 19, 1986, Omobayo hails from Akoko Edo Local Government Area of the state. He brings a wealth of expertise to his new role, holding a B.Eng Degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering and an MSc in Public Administration from the University of Benin (UNIBEN). His academic background positions him as a professional well-versed in public administration.
Additionally, Omobayo is a registered member of both the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) and the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN).
Before his appointment as Deputy Governor, Omobayo served as a Senior Maintenance Engineer at Dresser Wayne West Africa Limited.
