The Nigerian Senate has confirmed the appointment of Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede as the Chief of Army Staff.
The confirmation followed the presentation of a report by the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Army, Senator Abdulaziz Musa Yar’adua (Katsina Central), during Wednesday’s plenary session. The lawmakers unanimously adopted the committee’s recommendations.
Lieutenant General Oluyede had been serving in an acting capacity following the illness and subsequent death of his predecessor, Lt. Gen. Taoreed Abiodun Lagbaja.
