President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed Nwakuche Sylvester Ndidi as the Acting Controller-General of the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS). Ndidi’s appointment follows the conclusion of the tenure of Haliru Nababa, who had served in the role since February 18, 2021, after being appointed by former President Muhammadu Buhari.
In a statement issued on Friday, the Secretary of the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire, and Immigration Board, Ja’afaru Ahmed, confirmed that Ndidi’s appointment would take effect on December 15, 2024.
“The President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, has graciously approved the appointment of Nwakuche Sylvester Ndidi as Acting Controller-General of the Nigerian Correctional Service following the expiration of the tenure of Haliru Nababa,” Ahmed announced.
Ndidi, a native of Oguta in Imo State, was born on November 26, 1966. Before this appointment, he served as the Deputy Controller-General in charge of the Training and Staff Development Directorate. A distinguished professional, Ndidi is a fellow of the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies and holds the national honor of Member of the Federal Republic (MFR).
President Tinubu expressed confidence in Ndidi’s abilities and urged him to leverage his extensive experience to advance the goals of the Nigerian Correctional Service in his new role.
