The Dangote Refinery has announced a fresh reduction in the ex-depot price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), cutting the rate to ₦835 per litre, down from the previous ₦865.
The $20 billion facility issued a notice to its distributors on Wednesday morning, marking a ₦30 decrease in just six days, following an earlier reduction from ₦1,225 to ₦865 per litre.
As a result of this latest price cut, partners such as MRS filling stations are expected to adjust their retail prices accordingly—potentially dropping from the current ₦940 per litre to a lower rate in the coming days.
The move coincides with intensified efforts to boost fuel supply across Nigeria. Documents from the Nigerian Ports Authority and the Major Energies Marketers Association of Nigeria (MEMAN) show that marketers received regulatory approval to import 117,000 metric tonnes of petrol—equivalent to nearly 157 million litres—between April 8 and 16.
The Dangote Refinery’s price reduction is seen as a strategic effort to enhance market competitiveness and stabilize fuel availability across the country.
