Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, has announced Senator Solomon Adeola as the consensus governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the 2027 election.
The declaration followed a meeting of party leaders and stakeholders, where discussions centered on succession planning and the party’s strategy ahead of the next electoral cycle. Abiodun said the decision reflects a collective agreement within the party, urging members to remain united and support the chosen candidate.
Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, currently represents Ogun West in the National Assembly and is considered a strong figure within the state’s political landscape. His emergence as consensus candidate is expected to streamline the party’s internal process and reduce contestation among aspirants.
Party stakeholders present at the meeting reportedly expressed support for the decision, describing it as a move to strengthen cohesion and improve the APC’s chances in the 2027 governorship race.
