Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has expressed strong support for the governorship ambition of his deputy, Obafemi Hamzat, following the latter’s formal declaration of interest in the state’s top office.
The governor highlighted their long-standing professional relationship, noting that both leaders have worked closely for over two decades. He praised Hamzat’s competence, experience, and consistent dedication to the development of Lagos State.
According to Sanwo-Olu, Hamzat possesses a deep understanding of governance and the socio-economic dynamics of the state, attributes he said have been shaped under the political mentorship of President Bola Tinubu.
Emphasizing the importance of continuity and stability in governance, the governor cautioned against what he described as “experimentation” in managing a state as critical as Lagos. He expressed confidence that Hamzat’s leadership qualities and values would sustain ongoing developmental strides and further advance the state’s growth.
Sanwo-Olu reaffirmed his belief that his deputy is well-positioned to build on existing achievements and continue efforts to enhance the welfare and prosperity of Lagos residents.
