President Bola Tinubu has formally endorsed Obafemi Hamzat as the consensus governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress in Lagos State.
The endorsement was made during a meeting with members of the Lagos Governance Advisory Council (GAC), led by Tajudeen Olusi, and attended by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
The development signals a major step in the APC’s preparations for the next governorship election in Lagos, with party leaders rallying behind Hamzat as their preferred candidate.
Hamzat, who currently serves as deputy governor, is widely regarded within party circles as an experienced administrator with a deep understanding of Lagos’ governance framework.
Political observers say the move is likely to shape the dynamics of the upcoming election, positioning the APC to consolidate its longstanding dominance in the state.
