Vice President Kashim Shettima has revealed that he was once falsely accused by some individuals of plotting to kill President Bola Ahmed Tinubu shortly after both men assumed office in 2023.

Shettima made the disclosure in Abuja during the public presentation of former military Head of State Yakubu Gowon’s autobiography, My Life of Duty and Allegiance, where he represented the President.

According to him, the allegations emerged about three months after their inauguration, when some people reportedly told President Tinubu to stop wearing traditional outfits and caps gifted to him by the Vice President during the election campaign. The individuals allegedly claimed the clothing items were linked to a plot to charm the president to enable Shettima to take over power.

He said the claims were based on suspicion and misinformation aimed at creating mistrust between him and the President. Tinubu, however, reportedly dismissed the allegations and continued to maintain confidence in his deputy.
