Former Kano State Governor and Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) vice-presidential candidate, Rabiu Kwankwaso, has expressed confidence that the party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi, will honour his pledge to serve only one four-year term if elected in 2027.

Speaking on Channels Television, Kwankwaso disclosed that he and Obi signed a written agreement committing to a single four-year tenure, after which power would return to the North.

He said a separate agreement was also signed with the party, adding that the arrangement reflects their shared commitment to rotational leadership.

Kwankwaso explained that he accepted the vice-presidential slot because both leaders agreed that the South should hold the presidency for one term before power shifts back to the North.

Obi has repeatedly maintained that he would serve only one term if elected in 2027.
