Former Vice President and ADC presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, has disowned comments by his media aide, Paul Ibe, on fuel subsidy, insisting that his position remains unchanged.
Atiku said he would restore a targeted fuel subsidy if elected president in 2027, stressing that Nigeria has sufficient resources to provide relief for its citizens.
Speaking in Abuja, Atiku said Ibe was not speaking on his authority when he suggested that the subsidy would eventually be phased out after the economy recovered.
The former vice president said his proposed subsidy policy would help reduce the impact of rising fuel, transportation and food costs, while improving Nigerians’ purchasing power and supporting local production.
