President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has urged Nigeria LNG Limited (NLNG) to maximise the country’s gas resources, reduce gas flaring and ensure greater benefits for Nigerians through increased domestic utilisation.

Tinubu made the call on Wednesday when he received the NLNG board, led by Managing Director and CEO Adeleye Falade, at the State House, Abuja.

The President said Nigeria’s gas reserves should be converted into economic value for consumers rather than wasted through flaring, assuring NLNG of government support and incentives to expand its capacity.

Falade disclosed that NLNG has generated more than $150 billion since inception, with shareholders, including the Nigerian government, receiving about $47 billion in dividends. He said the company currently operates five of its six trains and plans to inaugurate Train 7, which would increase capacity by 35 per cent.

He added that all LPG produced by NLNG is currently supplied to the domestic market and announced that the NLNG-funded Bonny-Bodo Road and Bridge project had been completed and was awaiting commissioning.
