Pharm. Favour Obianuju Agwuna is a dynamic pharmacist, peer-reviewed researcher, global health innovator and social entrepreneur committed to advancing health equity in underserved communities across Nigeria and beyond. As the Founder of JunnieGreen Pharmacy, she applies an evidence-based approach to combating counterfeit drugs, driving digital health solutions and optimizing last-mile pharmaceutical delivery.
With an impressive academic foundation– holding a Bachelor of Pharmacy (B.Pharm) from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka– Pharm. Favour Agwuna has established herself as a prolific researcher. She has authored and co-authored 14 peer-reviewed publications in leading international journals—including The Lancet, Annals of Medicine and Surgery, Frontiers in Public Health, and the International Journal of Surgery: Global Health—covering critical topics such as infectious diseases, health disparities, pharmaceutical science and public health nutrition.
Her professional journey spans clinical practice, executive leadership, global health advisory and health advocacy. As the Founder and Managing Director of JunnieGreen Pharmacy and Stores, she leads a mission-driven organization tackling counterfeit drug circulation in Nigeria’s underserved communities while leveraging media platforms to educate the public on drug safety, food security, and health myth debunking. Building on her successful National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) tenure as Chief Pharmacist at Lifeline Children’s Hospital in Lekki, Lagos, she continues to support the institution in a visiting pharmacist capacity, where she ensures rigorous adherence protocols, safe pharmaceutical compounding, and actively serves on the hospital’s Antimicrobial Stewardship Committee.
Beyond her pioneering work in pharmaceutical safety, Pharm. Favour Agwuna has demonstrated exceptional leadership across national and global platforms. She serves as a Youth Advisory Committee Member and Health and Workforce Development Coordinator for the Mastercard Foundation, advising key decision-makers on youth-led healthcare accessibility and disability inclusion. Her extensive professional footprint includes clinical practice as a pharmacist, serving on antimicrobial stewardship committees, and mentoring young healthcare innovators through the Pharma Incubation Hub. Her commitment to mentorship and community health is further highlighted by her clinical oversight with the RibbonCare Foundation where she works to ensure authentic medication supply during community outreaches, and her past service as Vice President of the University of Nigeria Scholar Accelerator, where she spearheaded initiatives on safe medication use and healthcare accessibility. Through her community-focused initiatives and medical outreaches, she has successfully coordinated programs consulting over 1,000 patients and driving public awareness on counterfeit drug mitigation and cardiac health.
A multi-award-winning innovator and emerging leader in pharmacy, Pharm. Agwuna was named 2026 Winner of the African Health Summit Pitch Competition, one of 50 Global Women Rising Stars in ESG by the Women of the Future Programme (London), and one of only 10 selected members of the Nigeria Mastercard Foundation Youth Advisory Committee. Her growing impact has also been recognised as a 2025 African Women in Digital Health Awardee, one of the Top 120 Global HealthTech Women Innovators (Aurora Women Award), and a 2024 Amahoro Coalition Fellow among 30 young African leaders and entrepreneurs, alongside multiple earlier national and regional honours for visionary entrepreneurship and mentorship.
As she advances her work through JunnieGreen Pharmacy and Stores and other health-focused initiatives, Obianuju remains committed to the development of a healthcare landscape in which access to safe medicines, credible health information and quality care is not determined by a person’s circumstances or location. Her story is one of professional purpose and emerging leadership, defined by the ambition to transform knowledge into impact and make better health outcomes attainable for more people.
It is in recognition of her Sterling Accomplishments in Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Servies in Nigeria that Pharm. Favour Obianuju Agwuna is deemed worthy to be conferred with the Woman of Merit Gold Award.
