The Osun State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) says it is not bothered by Friday’s judgment of the Election Petition Tribunal which declared Senator Ademola Adeleke of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) winner of the 2018 governorship election in the state.
In a statement issued by its spokesperson, Mr. Kunle Oyatomi, the APC said the tribunal’s verdict will not stand superior legal scrutiny and therefore they will appeal against it.
Meanwhile, the Coalition of United Political Parties (CUPP) has described the tribunal’s judgment as a boost to the desire of the presidential candidate of the PDP, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar to reclaim his stolen mandate.
A statement released on Friday by the Coalition’s spokesperson, Imo Ugohinyere described the judgment as a victory for democracy and an affirmation of the sanctity of the ballot.
“The tribunal has given hope to Nigerians with this courageous decision to sack the impostor governor who was foisted on the people of Osun State through the barrel of guns instead of the ballot.
“The rampaging electoral robbery of Muhammadu Buhari’s All Progressives Congress is beginning to crumble in their face with the determination of the judiciary to stand firm, despite monetary inducements and threats.
“Today’s judgment has reinforced the hope of the opposition that there are still men and women on the bench who, even in the face of the rampage to destroy the judiciary, can still stand firm and do the right thing,” the statement read.
