Governor of Sokoto State and the Peoples Democratic Party candidate, Alhaji Aminu Tambuwal has scored the highest votes in the Sokoto State governorship election after polling a total of 512,002 from both the March 9 first ballot and yesterday’s supplementary election.
Tambuwal narrowly defeated Ahmad Aliyu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) who pulled 511,661. Tambuwal’s margin of victory was 341 votes.
The re-elected governor won the gubernatorial seat in 2015 after defecting to the All Progressives Congress (APC) from the PDP. He defected back to the PDP in 2018 where he contested for the PDP Presidential ticket but lost to Alhaji Atiku Abubakar,
