A Catholic priest of the Enugu Diocese, Reverend Fr. Paul Offu was on Thursday night shot dead by unidentified gunmen in Awgu Local Government Area of the state.
Fr. Offu’s death is coming barely five months after another priest, Rev. Fr. Clement Ugwu, the parish priest of St Mark Catholic Church, Obinofia Ndiuno in Ezeagu Local Government Area of the state was killed.
The decomposing body of Fr. Ugwu who was kidnapped on March 20 was found in a bush after a one-week search by his parishioners.
Confirming the news Offu’s death, the Communications Director of the Catholic Diocese of Enugu, Rev. Fr. Benjamin Achi condemned the killing, saying that details of the tragic incident would be made available to the public after a meeting of the priests.
