The Independent National Electoral Commission has officially declared the incumbent governor, Yahaya Bello, as the winner of last Saturday’s governorship election in Kogi State.
This was announced by the Returning Officer in Lokoja this afternoon. Governor Bello, according to INEC, polled 406,222 votes to defeat his closest rival, Engr. Musa Wada of the PDP, who polled 189, 704 votes.
The PDP agent refused to sign the result as his party has claimed there were wide spread irregularities. Wada has alleged that there was widespread voter intimidation by APC thugs as well as widespread statewide violence during the conduct of the polls. He also said the figures announced by INEC were “fictitious.”
