The Supreme Court of Nigeria has affirmed the election of the incumbent governor of Delta State, Ifeanyi Okowa at the 2019 governoship election in the state.
Justice Centus Nweze delivered the unanimous judgement this Wednesday. The apex court ruled that the allegations of over-voting brought against Okowa and his party, the Peoples Democratic Party, could not be substantiated and therefore the action of the appellant amounted to a waste of time.
The candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief Great Ogboru had challenged the electoral victory of Okowa and his party as declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission.
