The Supreme Court has dismissed the case filed by Alhaji Sani Takori Gummi challenging the victory of Governor Bello Mohammed Matawalle and the Peoples Democratic Party in last year’s governorship election in Zamfara state.
In a unanimous decision, the apex court dismissed the case for lack of merit as the appellant could not prove the charge of lack of spread of the votes won by the PDP in the last gubernatorial election.
The court als0 ruled that the earlier verdict by the same court which made the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to confirm the PDP as the party that qualified to be sworn into office actually suffices.
Governor Bello Mohammed Matawalle in reaction to the judgement said the truth always defies suppression. He dedicated his victory to the people of Zamfara State and called on all opposition parties to join hands with his administration to move the state forward.
