President Muhammadu Buhari has condemned the killing of innocent passengers by Boko Haram terrorists in Auno, Borno state. He also commiserated with families of victims.
According to the Nigerian Army, ten stranded passengers lost their lives as the terrorists shot and set them ablaze. Eighteen motor vehicles including heavy-duty trucks were also burnt to the ground.
In a statement by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu on Monday, President Buhari said his administration is ever determined to frustrate the goal of Boko Haram insurgents which is to hold Nigeria to ransom.
“The commitment of this administration to protect the lives of Nigerians will not be derailed by the cowardly and indiscriminate violence against innocent people by Boko Haram terrorists.”
Buhari also condoled with the government of the Borno State, claiming that the days of terrorists are numbered.
“As our armed forces continue to receive more hardware and intelligence to counter our current security challenges, the remnants of Boko Haram will ultimately be crushed.
“The peculiar challenges of asymmetric warfare notwithstanding, our armed forces are ever determined to defeat these enemies of humanity,’’ President Buhari said.
