Boko Haram terrorists yesterday launched a deadly attack on Korongilum Community in Chibok Local Government Area of Borno State.
Eye witnesses say the heavily-armed insurgents entered the community around 6.00pm in a convoy of gun trucks and motorcycles and opened fire on residents.
Many of the villagers are said to have been killed in the attack although the casualty figure is yet to be confirmed. A lot of houses were also razed by the terrorists who operated for hours unchallenged.
Chibok, a town in Southern Borno, was the scene of the abduction of 276 school girls from their hostel on April 14, 2014.
112 of the girls are still missing. About 107 of them have been found or released as part of a deal between the Federal Government and the terrorist group.
Last week, Boko Haram killed more than 30 people when they attacked a roadblock at the town of Auno which is about 25 kilometres from the city of Maiduguri, the Borno State capital.
