The committee set up by the All Progressives Congress (APC) to screen candidates for the upcoming governorship primary election in Edo State has disqualified the incumbent governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, from the contest.
According to the Chairman of the screening committee, Professor Jonathan Ayuba, Obaseki was disqualified because the committee found his HSC and NYSC certificates to be ‘defective’.
With this development, Obaseki may not be able to feature in the governorship primary slated for June 22.
In the meantime, Obaseki has rejected his disqualification but says he will not challenge the decision.
