The founder and Director of Adoration Ministry Enugu, Nigeria, AMEN, has requested for the release of Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB.
Fr Mbaka had earlier incurred the wrath of ecclesiastical and civil authories when he had imparted blessing on Kanu describing him as a freedom fighter.
This had come as a surprise as Fr Mbaka had been a strong supporter of the Buhari government which is at daggers drawn with IPOB and Kanu.
During a sermon in the Sunday Mass, the fiery Enugu Catholic priest said he had made the request when agents of the of the government whom he did not mention, came calling with some juicy offers to him which offers he had refused.
“Some persons came to me sometime ago, that they have two slots for me. I told them I don’t need such offer because I have a slot that I need. They said I should mention what I need.” he recalled.
Then he had reportedly responded further that “My first request was that they should release Nnamdi Kanu because since you people arrested him, we have lost many lives, so of what use is his arrest if after he was arrested, kidnapping hasn’t stopped in the North, thus, arresting him doesn’t solve the problem.” he argued.
The undaunted cleric also asked “has anybody seen Nnamdi Kanu kill anybody? He’s not a murderer. Have they caught him with guns, so why arrest him?”
Stating all these while speaking to his congregation last Sunday, Fr Mbaka asked where the nation’s security agencies were when several students were kidnapped and urged the government to use the same energy used in arresting Kanu to arrest kidnappers.
The priest of God also attributed the rise in criminality to the activities of the politicians that purchase arms for them even as he advised the government to use same temerity used in arresting Kanu to arrest insecurity, poverty, unemployment, activities of herdsmen, injustice and pragmatic nepotism.
