The Senate has ratified President Bola Tinubu’s dismissal of Babatunde Irukera as the Chief Executive/Vice Chairman of the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC). The endorsement, issued on Wednesday, follows the Senate’s consideration of an Executive Communication requesting approval of President Tinubu’s request to remove Babatunde Irukera in line with Section 8(1)(b) & (2) of the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission Act, 2018. The motion was presented by Senate Leader, Senator Opeyemi Bamidele, APC, Ekiti Central.
In January, President Tinubu formally petitioned the Senate, seeking approval for the termination of Mr. Babatunde Irukera’s tenure as the Executive Vice Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission.
