In a tragic incident early Wednesday morning, no fewer than 10 people lost their lives in a building collapse in the Jegede Olorunsogo area of Ona Ara, Ibadan, the capital of Oyo State. The Oyo State Fire Services Agency confirmed the incident, stating that it occurred around 2 am.
According to the agency’s statement, rescue teams responded swiftly to a distress call, managing to save seven people from the rubble. “The Oyo State Fire Services Agency received a distressed call at around 2 am this morning at Jegede Oluloyo area, Ibadan. Ten persons have been recovered from the debris of the collapsed building, while seven persons were rescued alive. Rescue operation is still going on,” the statement read.
As rescue efforts continue, authorities are assessing the scene to determine the cause of the collapse. The tragic incident has prompted an outpouring of support for the victims, as local agencies work tirelessly in the ongoing search and rescue mission.
