The Nigerian Army has arrested a man who runs different errands for Boko Haram terrorists across the borders of Nigeria, Cameroon and Chad.
Theatre Commander of Operation Lafiya Dole, Maj. General Lucky Irabor disclosed this at a press briefing this Wednesday in Maiduguri. The man, whom he described as “an Amir” had been “interfacing across the borders, running different errands for the Boko Haram Terrorists.”
The Amir was arrested with one other man and the two who are in the Army’s custody at the moment were paraded before journalists.
Irabor who referred to the two men as “criminals” said: “I call them criminals because we are still going through the process and until they become repentant, they remain criminals.”
The general also claimed that mop-up operations in the Sambisa Forest were still on-going and that various items used by Boko Haram in their war against the Nigerian state were being recovered.
Some recovered items which were displayed included military uniforms used by Boko Haram leaders during the production of propaganda videos which they sent to members of the public. Also recovered, according to the Commander, were notebooks with which Boko Haram members took down information on how to make bombs and Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs).
Unfortunately however, the Army recently lost two more soldiers to attacks by the insurgents. The men were killed in a Boko Haram attack near the Nigerian border with Chad.
