One person has died while two others were rescued after a two-storey building undergoing manual demolition collapsed in Aboru, Alimosho Local Government Area of Lagos State, in the early hours of Thursday.

The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) said its Alpha Eagle Response Team was deployed to No. 42 Governors Road, Aboru, shortly after the incident. The two rescued adult males were given first aid by the Lagos State Ambulance Service (LASAMBUS) before being taken to a nearby health facility, while another adult male was recovered dead from the rubble.

LASEMA said the rescue operation was being conducted jointly with the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service and LASAMBUS, while the area was cordoned off to protect residents and facilitate access for emergency responders. The agency urged residents, developers and property owners to comply with building regulations and engage certified professionals for demolition and construction works.

The agency also advised the public to report unsafe building activities through the 767 or 112 toll-free emergency numbers, stressing the state government’s commitment to strengthening emergency response and protecting lives and property.
