The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has seized alcoholic beverages worth about ₦300 million packaged in sachets and PET bottles below 200ml in Lagos State.

The agency carried out enforcement operations at Ile-Epo Market, where several distributors and retailers were arrested, as well as Ojuwoye Market in Mushin and Oke-Arin Market on Lagos Island.

NAFDAC officials evacuated several cartons of the prohibited alcoholic products from the affected markets during the raids.

The agency said investigations showed that some distributors and retailers were hoarding the products amid increased demand and rising prices.

NAFDAC reiterated that the ban on the manufacture, distribution, sale and hoarding of alcoholic beverages packaged in sachets and PET bottles below 200ml remains in force, warning operators to comply or face sanctions.
