Russia launched waves of missiles and drones across Ukraine on Wednesday, killing at least 32 people, including children, and injuring about 100 others, Ukrainian officials said.
The heaviest casualties were recorded in Pryluky, Chernihiv region, where a missile destroyed a five-storey residential building, killing 22 people.
Four others were killed in Kyiv, while casualties were also reported in other cities.
President Volodymyr Zelenskiy condemned the attack as one of Russia’s “most vile strikes”, saying Moscow fired about 70 missiles and dozens of Shahed drones.
Russia said it targeted Ukrainian military-industrial facilities, while Ukraine reported intercepting more than 80 per cent of 46 jet-powered drones.
The strikes forced many Kyiv residents to seek shelter in underground metro stations as explosions rocked the capital.
