Dr. Akinola Akinmade is a seasoned physician, orthopaedic trauma surgeon and a highly resourceful tertiary healthcare administrator. He has about 20 years of  experience in clinical care, academic medicine and healthcare administration. In June 2025, he was appointed as the Chief Medical Director (CMD) of the Afe Babalola University Multi-System Hospital (AMSH), Ado-Ekiti. In this role, he brings strategic leadership and transformative vision to one of Nigeria’s fastest-growing tertiary health institutions.

Dr. Akinola has been an integral part of AMSH’s growth and evolution, having previously served as Deputy Medical Director and Director of Clinical Services, thereby playing a central role in establishing and expanding critical service lines. His leadership was instrumental in launching the hospital’s renowned renal transplant program, advancing its cardiovascular, orthopaedic, and trauma services, and strengthening AMSH’s position as a regional centre of excellence in tertiary healthcare delivery.

His academic achievements reflect a deep commitment to clinical excellence, research advancement and health system innovation.  Akinola completed his doctorate (Ph.D) in Human Anatomy at Afe Babalola University in November 2025, with research contributions spanning musculoskeletal science, imaging, and AI-assisted diagnostics. He also holds a Master of Health Administration from Cornell University, Ithaca, New York; a Master of Science in Human Anatomy from Afe Babalola University, and a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB) from Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife.

Dr. Akinmade is a Fellow of both the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria (NPMCN) and the West African College of Surgeons (WACS). He  completed his postgraduate residency in orthopaedic surgery and trauma at the Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospitals Complex, the National Orthopaedic Hospital Igbobi, and the prestigious Hadassah Medical Center, Jerusalem.

Beyond his clinical and administrative leadership,  Akinola is an Associate Professor of Surgery, with an expanding research portfolio in orthopaedics, health systems advancement and AI-driven imaging. His scholarly work and collaborative research projects continue to position him as a strong advocate for evidence-based practice and innovation.

It is in recognition of his Sterling Accomplishments in Human Medicine and Tertiary Healthcare Facility Management in Nigeria that Dr. Akinola Akinmade is deemed worthy to be conferred with the Nigerian Achievement Award.
