Brazilian football maestro and World Cup winner, Ronaldinho has announced his retirement from professional football.
According to Roberto Assis, his brother who doubles as his agent, the 37-year-old who has not played for a professional team since leaving Brazilian side Fluminense in July, 2015 would commemorate his retirement after the World Cup in Russia.
“He has stopped, it is ended. Let’s do something pretty big and nice after the Russia World Cup, probably in August. We will do various events in Brazil, Europe and Asia and of course, we are arranging something with the Brazilian team as well,” Assis said.
Ronaldinho began his successful career with Gremio in Brazil before joining Paris Saint Germain of France in 2001. It was however during his time in Barcelona of Spain that his career was defined.
He won two La Liga titles, one Champions League trophy and one Ballon d’Or in his five – year stay at the Camp Nou. He also had brief spells at AC Milan of Italy before he returned to his native Brazil in 2011 to join Atletico Mineiro. He went on to play for Queretaro of Mexico and finally, Fluminense.
